Een bericht van Clontarf Private Nursing Home op Vandaag

Please - No gifts or items to be delivered -Thank you.

In the interests of protecting Residents and Staff to prevent Covid-19 from coming into the Nursing Home we are requesting that no gifts or items be sent in to the nursing home for residents or staff. We are advised that Covid-19 may exist on surfaces and materials for a significant time period and to avoid any possibility of entry to the Home we are eliminating this risk.

This is yet another restriction we are implementing but you will appreciate that everything must be done to reduce the risks. We understand that these gifts and items are left in as a gesture of love and kindness and this is a difficult decision but in the current circumstances is justified.

If there is an essential item needed for a specific resident please contact us in advance to make arrangements.

Your cooperation is appreciated.

Today I just want to acknowledge the wonderful team that we have at St.Gobnaits. We have encountered the most challenging of times lately and it has been exhausting! People have had to cover extra shifts but there was never a complaint. Everyone is just doing their bit to try to keep life as normal as possible for our residents. We are very strict on hand hygiene and sanitising but, as you can imagine, social distancing is not really possible. Many of our St. Gobnaits family have dementia, so they already live in, what can often be, a scary world. They want to hold your hand, give or receive a hug, give you a kiss on the cheek.... it reassures them. It lets them know that they are loved. It lets them know that they are safe. We can’t refuse that! We can’t step back when a distressed resident just wants a cuddle to feel safe. Their distress is nothing to do with the Coronavirus! Many are oblivious to the current challenges the world is facing. They face challenges every day. I will continue to allow the hug, the embrace, the kiss on the cheek..... because to step back when someone with a cognitive impairment looks for that comfort is to add to their distress. It world break my heart to see a look of, what they may feel, is rejection. Social distancing is not in their vocabulary.
We are doing our bit to keep everyone well, physically and mentally. We try to keep the bright side out. We will weather this storm together and become stronger as a result. We have received such wonderful support from families and friends and the letters we have received have been amazing!
Please spare a thought for the 29,000 residents in nursing homes accross the country and their exceptional staff who put their health at risk every day.......

St Martha’s Nursing Home #Covid19 Awareness Afternoon for the residents.

Director of Nursing Moira explained the key points of Covid to everyone, residents were shown how to use hand sanitisers properly and prevention methods. Residents asked many questions and they decided to put signs on their zimmer frames to remind staff and residents of the prevention methods of covid-19 during their daily routines.

What a special community within a community. St Martha's #nursinghome #charleville #cocork http://bit.ly/stmarthas

Happy Mother’s Day from our home to yours! We were showered with lovely messages, phone calls, flowers and chocolates today for all the mammies in the house! Our dear hairdresser, Josie Coughlan, also sent us a beautiful card along with chocolates and a framed Serenity prayer. We miss her dearly 😢As usual, we never need an excuse to have a party, so, this afternoon we had a ‘ mother’s and others‘ party!!! You don’t need to be a mother to celebrate! 😉
Thank you to all the children, and adults, that have written to our residents. There is such excitement checking the post box each day! We are posting all the beautiful letters and drawings on our notice board for everyone to read. We will put them all in an album so that we can refer to them and enjoy them throughout the year.
We had a lighthearted day today as we enjoyed watching a Brendan Grace show..... a welcome change from all the Coronavirus news!!
I promise you, we are looking after all your loved ones as we would our own parents.....
Stay safe ❤️
