A statement on recent attacks on Irish antifascists by liberal self-entitled wind bags.

While trawling the internet yesterday evening we came across some attack pieces by some self proclaimed antifascists based here in Ireland against other antifascists also based here.
Over the course of our investigations into both groups we found the attackers to be very disingenuous, misguided and frankly dangerous to anyone associated with them.
We found stories of betrayal, self-promotion and disregard for the safety of other antifascists and their families.
We found that while this tiny, tight-knit group of attackers claim to be militant antifascist activists they are more than just happy to allow physical attacks on other activists they have gone so far as to encourage these attacks and directly facilitate them. When confronted with these facts they have made no efforts to resolve these issues and have escalated their nine month long campaigns of baseless attacks and betrayals of antifascist ethics.
We have witnessed these self serving fools not only encourage the far right but also cling to liberalist ideals of pacifism rooted in middle class white privilege. We have seen them attempt to use their work in other issues such as anti-fracking, LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity rights to claim some kind of superiority over everybody else.
We have come to the conclusions that this little clique pose a danger to the physical safety and emotional well-being of actual antifascists in Ireland and elsewhere who associate with them and while we haven't yet had time to investigate their roles in other activist issues we find it hard to believe that their behavior would be any different.
They have doxxed Irish antifascists and supplied personal information of activists to the far right. Something that is never acceptable. They have betrayed and slandered one time friends and allies to the extent that they have isolated themselves from the wider antifascist and anti-racist movements. Their thinking and mentality is rooted in absolutist and competitive ethics. Which ironically are two of the three pillars of fascist ideologies.
These people, if that's the right word, may be naive but they are far from innocent. In their quest to elevate themselves to hero status they have attacked and discredited any activists who choose to use different methodologies to themselves. They have levelled false allegations and willfully ignored truths all in efforts of self-promotion and distraction from their own sizeable failings and lack of action.
They take no part in Direct Action against fascism or racism believing that strongly worded blog posts can stop physical violence against LGBTQ+, POC and traveller communities.
Well, words don't stop fascist violence. Words didn't stop Mussolini, Hitler, Franco, Salazar, Pinochet, Resign, Duterte or Organ. Words didn't stop ISIS, Britain First or the UVF. Words from comfortable middle class white liberals have never and will never protect the targets of fascism against assault and murder.
This is not a case of two equal sides (and you both know who we are talking about) slagging each other but a case of one side, blind to their own class and race privilege, ruthlessly and relentlessly hounding actual antifascists in efforts to set themselves up as the sole font of all wisdom and fulcrum of action in antifascist activism in Ireland.

We at Galway AFA stand in solidarity with those attacked by this tiny group of glory seeking self-celebratory fascist enablers and completely disavow any want or will to work with the attackers the future. They are untrustworthy and a danger to those who choose to fight the far right.
We do and will continue to engaged in Direct Action on our streets against fascists, racists and bigots in defense of our community, family and friends.
