Sporting Press

Congratulations to our 2019 Sporting Press Irish Oaks heroine Killmacdonagh on her fantastic success last Saturday night. It was a hugely popular success for the Kieran Lynch trained runner with a large contingent present from Ballymacoda, Co Cork. Oaks Final Night Diary and photos on pages 12 & 13. We now focus our attention on the third round of the Star Sports, Arc, LPS English Greyhound Derby at Nottingham on Saturday night (13 Irish trained runners incl Irish Derby champion Ballyanne Sim remain in contention) and on the final of the Larry O’Rourke National Produce Stakes at Clonmel on Sunday night (Trap 4 draw will make things a bit more difficult for the favourite Riverside Leo). Top class racing at Tralee also this Friday night featuring the semi-finals of the Navillus Race of Champions. It is great news that Drumbo Park is likely to reopen by the end of June and on this week’s paper we place Click Cowan (Chairman of the TSC & the Northern Ireland GOBA) ‘On The Spot’. Finally we hear from Charlie Blanning about the four greyhounds which managed to win the English Derby twice and wonder can Dorotas Wildcat make it five ? .
